Welcome to the Des Moines GMRS Radio Club Social

Get started in 3 steps

1. Set your weather location. Open Account → Weather location and enter your ZIP code, or tap "Use my current location." You'll get local weather on the home page and a banner for severe warnings and watches in your area. Your location is private. Nobody else can see it.
2. Fill out your profile and add your equipment. Use My account and My equipment so other members know what you run.
3. Say hello in the News feed. Share a short update or a photo, and see what other members are up to.

What's on the site

Radio

• Repeaters, GMRS Directory and Map: find repeaters near you. Know one that's missing? Use the Add a repeater form. A moderator reviews it before it goes live.
• Nets and Net history: see upcoming nets and look back at past ones.
• FCC Lookup: look up a callsign (signed-in members).

Community

• News feed: short posts with optional photos. You can like and comment. Use the Friends tab to see just your friends' posts. Type @callsign in a post or comment to mention a member. They'll get a notification. Add #hashtags to group posts by topic. Tap one to see everything with that tag.
• Weather: current conditions, a multi-day forecast and active alerts for your area.
• Forum, Clubs and Events: longer conversations, club pages and get-togethers.
• Members, Polls and Marketplace: find other operators, vote in polls, and buy, sell or trade radio gear.

Account

• Inbox: private messages and notifications. The number next to Account shows what's unread.
• Friends: send and accept friend requests and manage anyone you've blocked.

Staying comfortable and safe

• Block: on any member's profile you can block them. You won't see their posts, and they can't message you or send friend requests. Admins and moderators can't be blocked, so you can always reach the people who run the site.
• Report: see something that breaks the site rules? Use the Report link next to a post, comment, listing or forum post. Moderators review every report.
• Photos: when you upload a photo, the site re-saves it, which removes hidden camera and location data. Avoid showing your house number or other private details in the picture itself.
• Privacy: read how your information is used on the Privacy page.

A note on GMRS

GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) needs an FCC license, and one license covers you and your immediate family. New to GMRS? Here's how to get licensed. This site is for GMRS, so please keep other services off the repeater and net pages. Not sure about something? Ask in the Forum. Someone has almost certainly been there before.
